I was asked to create a logo inspired by the great artist Ralph Steadman. If you’re not familiar with that name, some of his most famous work was done for the movie “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.” His political and social caricatures are known for their heavy ink style, with great strokes and wild visuals. I studied many examples of his hand typography and created my own version. To stay true to Ralph’s style, I created the letterforms by hand. Afterwards, I scanned them into the computer and traced them with illustrator. The ink blots and strokes were added in after with illustrator to finish off the logo.
